I cannot stress this enough to you, this one thing, be very aware of shady DUI attorneys. These are the guys that just received their law degree through the mail, living at home with their mom, “trying” to make it. Yeah, they are trying to make it by taking your hard earned money. These guys are crooks, plain and simple. They can sell you everything, telling you that you are going to be facing a lot of jail time, or heavy fines, penalties, etc, whatever it takes to raise up the retainer fee that you are required to pay.

Once you go to court, they then sell you on the fact that the work they put in couldn’t have been done by yourself, on your own time. They tell you that it was their connections, the people they know, and the experiences that they have had in court, that helps them get people off the hook. Face it, they don’t get you off the hook, no DUI attorney can do that, you’ve broken the law. What they do though, is go to court for you, and speak to the judge on your behalf. This is it. You could do a few hours of research, to determine your options, and then present this to the judge, speaking for yourself. It is the exact same thing, but the attorney has that law degree, remember?

That law degree is just a piece of paper to get the general public to buy into their load of crap. Yes, it is exactly that, crap. They are in a cheap suit, selling crap. Do your research to determine exactly what fines and charges you are facing, should you plea guilty, or not guilty, and then what times of sentences could go along with each. Also think about your insurance rates, losing your license, and the cost of going to jail, possibly losing your job. There are a lot of negatives that come with getting a DUI charge, but you made the decision. Just avoid the shade tree DUI attorney at all costs.
